Flood risk and resiliency expert Shaun Gannon joins GEI
March 24, 2026Gannon focuses on nature-based solutions to reduce flood risk.
ITHACA, New York, March 24, 2026 – Shaun Gannon, P.E., BC.WRE, P.H., CFM, has joined GEI Consultants as Senior Water Resource Engineer. Shaun, is focused on flood risk and resiliency, FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, interior flood control, dam safety, urban and industrial stormwater management, and floodplain and stream restoration.
“Shaun brings a wealth of water resources knowledge to help us continue growing our water practice in New York State and throughout the country,” says PJ Snyder, Vice President at GEI. “His experience will strengthen our teams, provide valuable senior level review and guidance, and allow us to deliver high-value solutions to existing and new clients.”
Shaun has significant experience utilizing and understanding 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, computational fluid dynamics, shoreline protection, and flood risk and resiliency modeling. He has recently focused on community flood risk reduction using nature-based solutions.
“GEI is known for its expertise in computational watershed modeling across a diverse project portfolio,” says Shaun. “My goal is to use my water resources experience to help design sustainable nature-based solutions to improve resiliency.”
Shaun holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. He currently serves as the Chair of the New York State Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association and is an adjunct professor of civil engineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
