Ecological Risk Assessment Expert Chris Stransky Joins GEI
January 13, 2025CARLSBAD, California, Jan. 13, 2025 – Chris Stransky has joined GEI Consultants as Senior Aquatic Scientist. Chris is a nationally recognized expert in ecotoxicology in marine, estuarine, and freshwater environments.

He brings an entirely new area of technical expertise to meet our clients’ environmental compliance needs,” says Dan Wanket, Regional Manager at GEI. “Chris’ experience and relationships in Southern California are a significant addition to our water quality practice and will allow GEI to expand services to new and existing clients.”
Chris’ more than 32 years of experience have centered on ecological risk assessment programs to support regulatory compliance, as well as developing and testing innovative monitoring methods. His focus is characterizing the health of biological communities and understanding impairment causes and viable remedial solutions.
“I’m so excited and honored to join a team with an impressive reputation and deep technical expertise,” says Chris. “I look forward to helping kick off a new practice in Southern California focusing on water quality and ecological risk assessments, expanding on the expertise that already exists in many other GEI offices across the US and Canada.”
Chris holds a Master of Science in Marine Ecology from San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Aquatic Biology from University of California, Santa Barbara. He serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Society on Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry (SETAC) North America and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA).
