Senior Hydrogeologist Ed Layton joins GEI
July 11, 2024Earth scientist brings environmental and consulting expertise
EXTON, Pennsylvania (July 11, 2024) – Ed Layton, P.G., has joined GEI Consultants as a Senior Hydrogeologist. Ed brings 29 years of broad environmental consulting experience, with a focus on remediation as well as environmental permitting in waste management, wetlands, mining, energy, and water.
Ed has demonstrated success managing more than 450 complex multi-stakeholder projects across federal, state, and local regulatory environments. He brings extensive experience in remediation projects under Pennsylvania’s Land Recycling Program (Act 2) for a range of commercial and industrial properties. He has solved complex hydrogeological problems involving aquifer test design/analysis, field drilling and sampling programs, fate and transport analysis, groundwater and surface water chemistry, and groundwater modeling.
“Ed combines great people skills with scientific expertise,” says Barry Raus, Senior Vice President at GEI. “Ed will help our project teams function at a higher level by actively listening to bridge communication gaps. He will also leverage his experience to mentor and develop junior staff.”

Ed holds a Master of Science in Geology (focus on Hydrogeology and Geomorphology) from West Chester University and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from La Salle University. His research interests include climate-related impacts to the water supply and the glacial history of the Northeastern U.S. Ed is an ongoing volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
