Water resources infrastructure engineer Michael Bachand joins GEI

Bachand brings nationwide federal policy and program experience.

BOSTON, Massachusetts, Dec. 8, 2025 – Michael Bachand has joined GEI Consultants as Senior Engineer/Water Practice Leader. Michael has more than 26 years of experience working in both the private and federal sectors where he has provided consulting, program and project management, senior technical review, and direction on complex water resources and geotechnical engineering projects.

“Mike brings a breadth and depth of knowledge in federal policy and programs that will support existing clients and develop GEI’s presence in the federal and state water resources markets,” says Mike Schultz, P.E., GEI’s Boston Area Manager and Vice President. “Mike’s acute leadership skills and collaborative approach will enable us to expand in the federal market and in states where federal programs have an impact.”

Michael has extensive experience in federal policy and implementing federal policies on water resources projects across the nation. He brings particular expertise in executing and delivering dam and levee projects.

Michael most recently served the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) as Technical Manager, National Levee Safety Program, and Chief, Geotechnical/Water Resources Branch at the USACE’s New England District.

Michael holds both a Bachelor’s and Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and a Certificate in Risk Management from Notre Dame of Maryland University. He is a licensed engineer in Massachusetts.
