Portrait of Ben RohrbachNASHVILLE, Tennessee, Jan. 28, 2026 – Benjamin “Ben” Rohrbach has joined GEI as a Senior Consultant. Ben is an executive engineering leader with 30 years of experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and a background in federal civil works, navigation, dam and levee safety, construction oversight, and multidisciplinary engineering management.

“As the former chief of design and construction at the Nashville District of USACE, Ben has significant experience in the design and construction of locks and dams,” says Jamie Matus, Senior Vice President and Central Region Growth Leader at GEI.  “Ben’s expertise and relationships will be critical as we leverage our experience at the Soo Locks in Michigan to pursue mega locks projects planned over the next decades on the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.”

Ben has proven expertise in managing large, complex programs and projects, and steering technical operations across planning, design, and construction. Ben is known for leading large teams through engineering design, mega-project delivery, and inter-agency collaboration. He retired from USACE, where he was responsible for leading a division of more than 165 engineers and scientists and managing a $27M annual program for design, engineering, and construction management across seven states.

“I chose GEI because of the depth and breadth of GEI’s portfolio in water resources infrastructure design and construction, and the firm’s reputation for a culture of inclusion and collaboration,” says Ben. “I look forward to supporting regional operations and business leads, leveraging client relationships to advance and attain growth and strategy goals, and serving as an asset to project delivery teams.”

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. He received the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal in 2025, the Civilian Service Commendation Medal in 2024, and the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service in 2017, 2005, and 2004. Ben is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the U.S. Society on Dams (USSD), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
